Samsung Brings USDC Transfers to 82 Million Galaxy Phones

TL;DR

  • Samsung announced a Solana partnership to integrate Circle’s USDC into Samsung Pay and Samsung Wallet.

  • The planned rollout will support transfers across 60 countries by the final week of October.

  • Solana will handle settlement in the background for an initial 82 million Galaxy devices in the United States.

  • SOL traded near $116 on Thursday, with fading momentum and resistance at $122.94.

Samsung has announced a partnership with Solana to bring USDC transfers to Galaxy devices in the United States, expanding access to stablecoin-based cross-border payments.

The feature will be integrated into Samsung Pay and Samsung Wallet, appearing alongside familiar items such as credit cards and boarding passes.

According to the announcement, users will be able to transfer Circle-issued USDC across 60 countries by the last week of October. The initial rollout covers 82 million U.S. Galaxy devices, with Solana handling payment settlement in the background.

Samsung Wallet Adds Stablecoin Remittances

The integration aims to make international stablecoin transfers accessible through apps Galaxy users already use.

Woncheol Chai, executive vice president and head of Samsung’s Digital Wallet Team, said the company wants users to benefit from faster, simpler money transfers without needing to navigate traditional crypto tools.

Solana’s role is to provide the underlying settlement infrastructure while Samsung delivers the wallet interface.

The announcement outlines a planned rollout rather than confirming that the feature is already available across all eligible devices.

The partnership comes as stablecoin activity on Solana continues to expand. The network’s stablecoin supply stands at approximately $16.61 billion, up from $14.13 billion on January 1, according to figures cited in the report. That represents growth of roughly 18%.

Solana has also processed more than $5.25 trillion in stablecoin transaction volume so far this year.

The Samsung integration could broaden access to that infrastructure by placing USDC transfers within a widely used consumer wallet. However, the number of devices covered by the rollout does not establish how many users will adopt the service.

The announcement did not immediately reverse Solana’s near-term market weakness.

SOL traded around $116 on Thursday after declining approximately 3% the previous day.

Momentum indicators pointed to a slowdown. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence indicator slipped below its signal line, producing a negative histogram, while the Relative Strength Index eased to 54.

The RSI remained above its neutral midpoint, but the decline suggested buyers had lost some momentum.

Solana Price Outlook: $107.47 Support and $122.94 Resistance

Despite the pullback, SOL remained above its 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day exponential moving averages, preserving a constructive broader technical structure.

The 50-day EMA near $107.47 provides the first major support reference identified in the analysis. A deeper correction would bring the 100-day EMA at $98.49 and the 200-day EMA at $96.78 into focus.

On the upside, resistance stands at $122.94, the September 25 high. A sustained recovery above that level would strengthen the bullish case, with the January 13 high at $148.74 serving as a more distant reference.

Samsung’s planned rollout adds a consumer payments use case for Solana. For SOL’s price, however, renewed buying demand will be needed to counter weakening momentum and challenge nearby resistance.
