Concordium Adds Geely Sweden CEO to Board for AI Payment Push

The Concordium Foundation has appointed Geely Sweden Holdings CEO Per Ansgar to its Board, adding more than 26 years of automotive and financial leadership experience to its governance team.

Ansgar has held senior roles across Volvo Cars, Polestar and the broader Geely group. His appointment strengthens the five-year relationship between Concordium and Geely as the blockchain network develops infrastructure for verified digital payments and accountable artificial intelligence agents.

Appointment Strengthens Concordium-Geely Relationship

Concordium and Geely began working together in 2021, driven by a shared vision for autonomous vehicles and machine-initiated payments.

The relationship was formalized in 2022 through a joint venture based in Wuxi, China. Ansgar’s appointment now brings a senior Geely executive directly into Concordium’s governance structure.

His industrial and operational experience complements the Board’s existing expertise in cryptography, commercial law, digital operations and business development.

The automotive industry is moving toward a model in which vehicles and their embedded software can initiate transactions without direct human involvement.

Connected cars could automatically settle electric-vehicle charging costs, road tolls, service fees and other expenses. They could also interact directly with energy providers, service stations and tax systems.

This shift creates questions about who owns and authorizes machine agents and who is responsible when a transaction fails or causes harm.

Ansgar said trust can no longer depend solely on a driver’s signature. Instead, payment systems must provide verifiable proof of who authorized a transaction and who can be held accountable for it.

Concordium Targets Accountable AI Transactions

Concordium is developing infrastructure that allows verified AI agents to transact while remaining linked to identifiable and accountable owners.

The approach seeks to establish a trust framework for autonomous software as businesses increasingly deploy agents capable of initiating payments and making other operational decisions.

The network’s technology is designed to let agents prove relevant information about their owners without revealing sensitive corporate documents.

The same infrastructure could support autonomous vehicles as they evolve into active participants in digital payment systems.

Ansgar became CEO of Geely Sweden Holdings in November 2024 after previously serving as the company’s chief financial officer.

Before joining Geely Sweden Holdings, he spent 26 years at Volvo Cars. His positions included deputy CFO and CFO of Volvo Cars China. He subsequently served as CFO of electric-vehicle manufacturer Polestar.

Alongside his current executive responsibilities, Ansgar holds several board positions within the Geely group and serves on the nomination committee of publicly listed Volvo Car AB.

Concordium Agent Registry Surpasses 1,600 Registrations

Concordium launched its Agent Registry in May 2026. Since then, more than 1,600 AI agents have been registered and linked to verified owners.

Registered agents receive a “Verified by Concordium” badge that can be used across networks such as Ethereum and Solana.

The system allows agents to verify details about their owners while keeping the underlying company documents private. Concordium believes this combination of verification, privacy and accountability will become increasingly important as autonomous agents take on greater financial responsibilities.

Ansgar joins a Board chaired by Concordium founder Lars Seier Christensen. Other members include ETH Zurich cryptography professor Ueli Maurer, Swiss commercial lawyer Simone Monnerat and digital executive Nibras Stiebar-Bang.

Concordium is an AI infrastructure for the agentic economy powered by a purpose-built, regulatory-grade blockchain with identity and trust built into the protocol.

When an AI agent acts autonomously, the counterparty needs assurance that a verified human authorised it. Concordium delivers that assurance at the infrastructure level. The only platform where verified humans and verified AI agents operate on the same identity layer.

Designed by world-renowned cryptographers and trusted by enterprises, agent networks, and developers worldwide.
