Payouts.com and the Casper Association have announced a partnership to bring autonomous AI agent payments into production using the x402 protocol.
In a press release shared with Cryptowisser, the companies stated that the collaboration will allow AI agents operating through Payouts.com’s AgentWallet and Digital Employees platform to settle transactions on the Casper Network.
As AI agents increasingly handle tasks such as researching products, negotiating agreements, purchasing data, and accessing paid APIs, payment infrastructure has emerged as a practical obstacle to further automation.
Many agents still depend on human-managed credit cards or other conventional payment credentials to complete transactions.
The partnership aims to address that limitation by combining programmable spending controls with blockchain-based settlement.
x402 Enables Native Payments for AI Agents
The x402 protocol uses the HTTP 402 Payment Required status code to introduce a payment step directly into online interactions.
Instead of requiring a person to manually approve a credit card transaction, an AI agent can receive a payment request and settle it as part of its interaction with a digital service.
This framework can support transactions such as purchasing datasets, paying for API calls, or accessing other paid online resources.
Payouts.com already supports x402, allowing the company to integrate Casper’s network without changing the underlying protocol on either side.
According to the announcement, Casper is the first WebAssembly-native layer-1 blockchain running x402 on mainnet.
A central component of the partnership is csprUSD, the Casper ecosystem’s native stablecoin.
The companies intend for csprUSD to serve as the standard settlement asset for AI agents transacting through Casper’s x402 infrastructure.
Using a stablecoin allows agents to make payments denominated in dollars rather than relying on assets with more volatile prices.
For example, an agent purchasing access to an API or dataset could settle the transaction in csprUSD while operating within predefined spending limits.
Casper will handle blockchain settlement and onchain enforcement, providing infrastructure intended for regulated and compliance-focused businesses.
Payouts.com Provides Spending Controls and Governance
Payouts.com will supply the governance layer that determines how AI agents are permitted to spend funds.
That layer governs how much an agent may spend, what it can purchase, and when transactions can occur.
Such controls allow businesses to authorize autonomous payments while retaining oversight of how agents use company resources.
Under the partnership, Payouts.com manages transaction permissions and spending policies, while Casper processes settlement using csprUSD.
The combined model is intended to support autonomous transactions without giving AI agents unrestricted access to corporate payment credentials.
The partnership comes as businesses increasingly explore AI agents capable of completing commercial activities without direct human involvement.
Gartner predicts that AI agents could intermediate more than $15 trillion in business-to-business spending by 2028.
That estimate reflects the potential for AI systems to participate in procurement, vendor negotiations, data purchases, and other business transactions.
However, payment execution remains a significant challenge because many existing systems were designed around human users and traditional checkout processes.
The x402 integration aims to provide payment infrastructure better suited to software agents operating across digital services.
Payouts.com and the Casper Association said implementation is already underway. The integration will be released in phases over the coming months, with further details to be shared through their official channels.
While commenting on this latest partnership, Payouts.com CEO and co-founder Leor Ceder said autonomous software agents will become a major source of future payment activity.
“The next wave of payment volume won’t come from humans clicking checkout buttons, but from AI agents transacting on their behalf,” Ceder said.
He added that the partnership provides customers with a settlement rail already operating on a live blockchain.
Casper Association President and Chief Technology Officer Michael Steuer compared agent payments with earlier developments in internet commerce.
“Every era of the internet needed a payment layer before it could support real commerce,” Steuer said.
He added that Payouts.com provides the control layer, while Casper supplies the settlement infrastructure and csprUSD serves as the transaction currency.
