World Foundation has secured $52.5 million in fresh funding to accelerate the global rollout of its World ID infrastructure, a digital identity solution designed to verify human users as artificial intelligence continues reshaping the internet.
In a press release shared with Cryptowisser, the team stated that the funding was raised through a one-year locked token sale to strategic investors. Pantera Capital led the initial funding round, with participation from Bain Capital Crypto, Eightco Holdings (NASDAQ: ORBS), Selini Capital, Susquehanna Crypto, and several other investors.
All WLD tokens distributed as part of the fundraising are subject to a 12-month lock-up period, highlighting investors' long-term commitment to the project's development.
Funding to Accelerate Global Expansion of World ID
World Foundation said the new capital will be used to expand the availability of World ID for businesses, consumers, and AI-powered applications worldwide.
Demand for reliable human verification is growing rapidly as AI-powered tools and autonomous agents become more common across online services. The organization believes proof-of-human technology will become essential for digital platforms seeking to distinguish real people from increasingly sophisticated AI systems.
Cosmo Jiang, General Partner at Pantera Capital, said the rapid advancement of AI has made proof-of-human technology more important than ever.
He noted that enterprise interest in World ID has continued to grow, adding that the firm is pleased to support the next stage of the project's expansion.
Tom Lee, Board Member of Eightco Holdings, also emphasized the importance of World Foundation's technology, describing proof of human as a critical component for securing digital interactions in an AI-driven world.
According to World Foundation, industries that depend on trust and authentic online interactions face increasing risks as AI-generated content and autonomous agents become more sophisticated.
Without effective verification systems, sectors such as digital advertising, online dating, identity management, content marketplaces, and video communications could experience growing problems related to fake accounts, deepfakes, impersonation, and fraudulent activity.
World ID aims to solve this challenge by allowing users to prove they are unique individuals without revealing personal identity.
The verification process is completed once through an Orb, which creates a unique World ID securely stored on the user's mobile device. The system uses advanced cryptographic techniques and anonymized multi-party computation to protect user privacy while enabling trusted online verification.
Major Platforms Begin Integrating World ID
World Foundation said several leading technology platforms have started integrating World ID into their services.
Among the companies adopting the technology are Zoom, DocuSign, Okta, Vercel, and Tinder, as businesses increasingly seek secure methods to verify human users while preserving privacy.
The organization believes these integrations represent the beginning of broader enterprise adoption as AI-generated identities become more prevalent online.
The funding announcement coincides with the third anniversary of World entering production on July 24, 2026.
World Foundation said the project is transitioning from building its infrastructure to expanding real-world utility through enterprise integrations and consumer applications.
The organization reported that more than 39 million people have joined the World Network, with over 18 million individuals verified through Orb devices. Since launch, users have generated more than 475 million World ID proofs across the network.
World Foundation also highlighted the release of World ID 4.0, its latest enterprise-ready identity platform designed to support large-scale deployments.
The upgraded infrastructure enables developers to build additional digital credentials that operate within the World ID ecosystem using zero-knowledge proofs. This approach allows organizations to verify users while keeping sensitive personal information private.
The foundation believes the combination of increasing AI adoption and the launch of World ID 4.0 will accelerate demand for proof-of-human technology across enterprise, consumer, and AI-driven applications in the coming years.
World is positioned to be the world’s largest network of real humans, creating the only solution that can sustain uniqueness and privacy at the scale of seven billion humans. The project was originally conceived by Sam Altman, Max Novendstern, and Alex Blania with the mission of empowering humans in the age of AI.
Meanwhile, World Foundation is the independent nonprofit steward of the World protocol. Its mandate is to advance World’s human-first mission and serve the long-term interests of the network and its community.
The Foundation provides the institutional bridge between World’s initial development and its transition to an open, decentralized protocol, overseeing core protocol assets, governance, ecosystem grants and network operations while progressively expanding community participation. It is also working to make the protocol economically self-sustaining through protocol fees paid by applications, not individual users, so that value generated through use of the network can support its continued operation and growth.
