Internet Computer Surpasses 550 Million Blocks Generated

The DFINITY Foundation, the team behind the Internet Computer platform, announced a new milestone on Twitter yesterday. According to the team, the Internet Computer has surpassed 550M blocks generated. 

The Internet Computer is a layer-1 protocol that is developed by the DFINITY Foundation and aims to become a blockchain network that evolves the internet. This ‘internet computer’ intends to ‘extend the functionality of the public internet so that it can host backend software’ on a smart-contract compatible, distributed network.

ICP, the native token of the Internet Computer ecosystem, is down by more than 3% in the last 24 hours and is trading at $19.70 at press time.
