DOGE Risks Further Decline as Bearish Sentiment Intensifies Below $0.071

Dogecoin trades below $0.071 as weakening social sentiment, negative funding rates, and rising short positions increase the risk of a breakdown below the key $0.070 support.

DOGE Risks Further Decline as Bearish Sentiment Intensifies Below $0.071

TL;DR

  • Dogecoin is trading below $0.071 after falling more than 4% in the previous session.

  • On-chain data shows declining social dominance, signaling fading investor interest.

  • Negative funding rates and a low long-to-short ratio suggest traders are increasingly betting on further downside.

Dogecoin (DOGE) continued to trade under pressure on Tuesday, hovering below $0.071 after dropping more than 4% in the previous session. The largest meme cryptocurrency remains locked in a bearish trend as weakening social sentiment, negative derivatives data, and deteriorating technical indicators point to the possibility of further downside.

Market participants are closely watching the $0.070 support level, with a decisive break below the psychological threshold potentially accelerating the current correction.

Declining Social Activity Signals Waning Investor Interest

On-chain data indicates that interest in Dogecoin is fading. According to data from Santiment, DOGE's Social Dominance metric—which measures the percentage of cryptocurrency-related discussions focused on Dogecoin—has continued to decline over the past week.

The metric fell to 0.06% on Tuesday, suggesting fewer market participants are discussing the token across crypto media and social platforms. Declining social engagement often reflects weakening investor sentiment and reduced speculative demand, both of which can weigh on price performance.

Derivatives metrics also paint a cautious picture for Dogecoin. Data from CoinGlass shows DOGE's long-to-short ratio dropped to 0.74 on Tuesday, approaching its lowest level in more than a month.

A ratio below 1 indicates there are more traders holding short positions than long positions, highlighting growing expectations that Dogecoin's price could continue to decline.

Adding to the bearish sentiment, funding rates have turned negative, falling to -0.0015%.

Negative funding rates mean traders holding short positions are paying those holding long positions, a sign that bearish positioning is dominating the perpetual futures market.

Dogecoin Trades Below Major Moving Averages

From a technical perspective, Dogecoin remains in a weak position. DOGE continues to trade below its 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs), indicating that sellers remain firmly in control across the short-, medium-, and long-term timeframes.

The meme coin is currently holding just above the important $0.070 horizontal support level, but momentum indicators suggest buying pressure remains limited.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) remains below the neutral 50 level, reflecting weak bullish momentum, while the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) is only marginally positive, indicating that any recovery attempts could struggle to gain traction.

If buyers regain control, Dogecoin could encounter several resistance zones before any sustained recovery develops.

Immediate resistance sits near the 50-day EMA at $0.077, followed by a descending trendline around $0.083.

Additional resistance is located near the 100-day EMA at $0.085, while $0.088 represents another horizontal barrier. Beyond that, the 200-day EMA around $0.102 marks a significant resistance zone that bulls would need to reclaim to shift the broader market structure back in their favor.

The $0.070 level remains the most critical support for Dogecoin in the near term. A decisive daily close below this psychological and technical support could confirm a bearish breakdown, opening the door to a deeper correction and reinforcing the prevailing downward trend.

Unless market sentiment improves and buyers reclaim key resistance levels, Dogecoin is likely to remain vulnerable to additional selling pressure in the sessions ahead.
