Bitwise Announces Plans to Add HYPE to its Balance Sheet

Bitwise Asset Management announced on Monday that it intends to use a portion of the management fees generated from its recently launched BHYP Hyperliquid ETF to accumulate the blockchain's native HYPE token on its balance sheet.

While announcing this via X, Bitwise said it is devoting 10% of the Bitwise Hyperliquid ETF (BHYP) management fee to holding HYPE on the Bitwise balance sheet

“As in, 99% of the blockchain’s revenue is used to buy and burn HYPE. It's a community-first model based on this idea: If the protocol succeeds, the community succeeds.

In that spirit, we’re pleased to announce that Bitwise will be devoting 10% of the Bitwise Hyperliquid ETF ($BHYP) management fee to holding HYPE on the Bitwise balance sheet,” Bitwise added.

This latest development comes after Bitwise's Hyperliquid ETF, trading under the ticker BHYP, launched on the New York Stock Exchange on Friday. The ETF gives investors indirect exposure to HYPE and staking rewards

Hyperliquid has become one of the leading onchain trading platforms, particularly for perpetual futures trading.

Recent on-chain data shows that Hyperliquid generated nearly 40% of all blockchain fees last week, ahead of Ethereum at approximately 14% and Solana near 10%.

Its native token, HYPE, is currently the 10th-largest cryptocurrency by market cap. It is up 5% in the last 24 hours and is now approaching the $50 mark, with a market cap of over $10 billion.

Bitwise was the first asset manager to file for a U.S. Hyperliquid ETF last year, ahead of rival filings from 21Shares and Grayscale.
