On Friday, the LayerZero team announced via X that TRX — the utility token of TRON, one of the largest networks in crypto — is officially expanding to Base thanks to LayerZero.
Tron is using the OFT Standard to bring TRX natively into Base's ecosystem of hundreds of apps, millions of users, and billions in TVL. TRX now connects the TRON ecosystem to Base.
-
TRX holders can access Base-native DeFi.
-
Base users and apps can access one of crypto’s largest tokens.
In the background, the OFT Standard enables full compatibility with TRON updates, 1:1 asset movement from TRON to Base, and full control over the TRX token contracts by Tron.
LayerZero is an interoperability protocol designed to facilitate seamless communication between different blockchains. It aims to create a unified, interconnected blockchain ecosystem where assets and data can move freely across various networks. ZRO trades at $1.293, down 3.1% in the last 24 hours.
TRON is a public blockchain attempting to become the core infrastructure for a decentralized internet. TRON relies on a Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) mechanism in which 27 Super Representatives rotate every 6 hours to validate blocks and transactions. TRX is up 2.3% today and is trading at $0.2885 at press time.
