On Tuesday, the Solana team announced via X that the MoneyGram ramp is now live on the Solana network. The integration brings cash deposits in over 25 countries and withdrawals in over 170 countries and territories to Solana apps, wallets, and exchanges.
MoneyGram Ramps is embedded in the Solana Developer Platform payments module, which is designed to connect Solana builders with payment flows their applications need to reach real users at scale.
MoneyGram Ramps is a developer-centric API for fast, compliant cash-to-crypto and crypto-to-cash integration through a single implementation. It connects Solana applications to MoneyGram's physical and digital network without developers needing to build their own banking infrastructure or navigate complex regulatory requirements.
For builders on Solana, the integration includes:
-
Instant API credentials and sandbox access.
-
Documentation and software development kits (SDKs).
-
No required banking integrations.
MoneyGram Ramps is now available alongside other Solana Developer Platform API modules, including issuance, payments, wallet management, and more. The goal is to reduce the time from idea to production and remove operational barriers that slow institutions and developers down.
Rift is the first wallet on Solana to integrate Ramps, giving users access to move between crypto and local currency through MoneyGram's global network.
Solana is an integrated, open-source blockchain that synchronizes global information at the speed of light. The network is focused on fast transactions and high throughput to encourage mass consumer adoption of blockchain technology.
Solana is a highly functional open-source project that banks on blockchain technology’s permissionless nature to provide decentralized finance (DeFi) solutions. While the idea and initial work on the project began in 2017, Solana was officially launched in March 2020 by the Solana Foundation with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Solana protocol is designed to facilitate decentralized app (DApp) creation. It aims to improve scalability by introducing a proof-of-history (PoH) consensus combined with the underlying proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus of the blockchain.
Because of the innovative hybrid consensus model, Solana enjoys interest from small-time traders and institutional traders alike. A significant focus for the Solana Foundation is to make decentralized finance accessible on a larger scale.
SOL is up 0.7% in the last 24 hours and trades at $76.26.
