Ripple Secures Full MiCA License in Luxembourg, Expanding Regulated Crypto Services Across Europe

Ripple has received full Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorization under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework, enabling it to offer regulated crypto payment services across the European Economic Area.

TL;DR

  • Ripple has received CASP authorization from Luxembourg's financial regulator under the EU's MiCA framework.

  • The approval allows Ripple to provide regulated crypto services across the European Economic Area (EEA).

  • The company now holds more than 75 regulatory licenses globally.

Ripple Achieves Full MiCA Compliance in Europe

Digital asset infrastructure company Ripple has secured full Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorization from Luxembourg's financial regulator, completing its regulatory approval under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework.

The approval, granted by Luxembourg's Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), follows Ripple's preliminary authorization in June and officially allows the company to offer regulated crypto asset services throughout the European Economic Area (EEA) under a single regulatory framework.

According to Ripple, its fully regulated crypto payments platform is now available to financial institutions, businesses, and corporate clients across the region.

The CASP license strengthens Ripple's growing regulatory presence in Europe. In addition to the new MiCA authorization, the company already holds an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license within the European Union.

Ripple also expanded its regulatory footprint earlier this year by obtaining cryptoasset registration with the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

With the latest approval, the company now holds more than 75 regulatory licenses worldwide, reinforcing its strategy of operating within regulated markets.

MiCA Creates a Unified Crypto Market Across Europe

Ripple's authorization arrives shortly after the European Union completed the final transition to the MiCA regulatory framework on July 1.

MiCA replaces the patchwork of individual national licensing regimes with a unified system that allows authorized crypto companies to "passport" their services across member states within the European Economic Area.

The framework is designed to provide greater regulatory clarity while enabling licensed firms to expand more efficiently throughout the European market.

According to the latest register published by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), 280 companies have now received CASP authorization under MiCA.

Although the number continues to grow, it remains significantly lower than the more than 3,000 crypto businesses that previously operated under separate national licensing systems before the new framework took effect.

The stricter regulatory standards introduced by MiCA have prompted many firms to seek new approvals or adjust their European operations.

Ripple now joins an expanding list of major cryptocurrency companies that have secured authorization under the MiCA regime.

The group includes industry leaders such as Kraken, Coinbase, OKX, and Crypto.com, all of which can now offer regulated crypto services across the European Economic Area through a single authorization.

Meanwhile, Binance entered the post-transition MiCA era without a CASP license after withdrawing its Greek license application before the July 1 deadline.

Ripple's full CASP authorization marks another significant milestone in the company's global regulatory expansion.

With MiCA now fully in effect across the European Union, Ripple is well positioned to grow its regulated crypto payments business and strengthen relationships with banks, fintech firms, and institutional clients seeking compliant digital asset infrastructure throughout Europe.
