A new report has revealed that NFTs in the gaming sector recorded a trading volume of $2.3 billion in the third quarter of 2021.

A report published by the Blockchain Gaming Alliance revealed that nonfungible tokens (NFTs) generated $2.3 billion in revenue for the gaming industry in the third quarter of the year.

The total NFT trading volume for Q3 was over $10 billion and the gaming industry accounted for more than 22% of it, the report added. Metaverse-related activity was also mentioned in the report, revealing that virtual land sales surpassed $42 million in the previous quarter.

Micro-transactions and in-game purchases have created a multi-billion dollar gaming industry that could tap into NFTs and blockchain technology.
