Goldman Sachs Opens Its $100B Treasury Fund to Crypto Firms

TL;DR

  • Goldman Sachs’ roughly $100 billion FTIXX Treasury fund is being offered through Lynq to eligible institutional digital-asset firms.

  • SEC-registered broker-dealer tZERO Securities will handle transactions on the network.

  • FTIXX is Lynq’s first outside fund and its second investment product.

Goldman Sachs is opening a new route for institutional crypto firms to access its FTIXX Treasury money market fund. The fund, described as holding roughly $100 billion in assets, will be available through Lynq, a settlement network serving digital-asset companies. Transactions will be handled by tZERO Securities, an SEC-registered broker-dealer.

Existing Fund Gains a New Distribution Channel

The arrangement brings an established Goldman Sachs fund onto Lynq without creating a tokenized version of its shares. That is the key distinction from blockchain-based funds such as BlackRock’s BUIDL and Franklin Templeton’s BENJI: FTIXX remains a traditional fund, while Lynq gives eligible digital-asset firms another way to access it.

FTIXX is the first fund from an outside provider offered on Lynq. CEO Jerald David said clients had asked for another Treasury investment option with a different yield profile from the network’s existing product.

A Place for Cash Between Trades

For institutional trading firms, the appeal is the ability to put available cash into a Treasury fund between transactions and redeem it when needed. Lynq describes its broader service as a way to combine settlement and treasury management for digital-asset businesses.

Access is limited to eligible U.S. clients. Firms must complete Lynq’s onboarding process, establish a relationship with tZERO Securities and meet the applicable investment requirements. Lynq said it modified its technology and integrated with Mosaic to support the fund.

The addition makes Lynq a multi-asset platform, according to David. It also gives Goldman Sachs a way to reach institutional crypto firms through a settlement workflow they already use, without changing the fund into a blockchain-issued product.
