The Arbitrum team announced via X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday that its Arbitrum Orbit is ready for mainnet. Arbitrum Orbit is a new product offering that lets users create their own chain that settles to one of Arbitrum's public Layer 2 (L2) chains.

With Arbitrum Orbit, developers can use an alternate data availability solution that has been live in production for over a year. It enables ultra-low transactions of under a cent without compromising on high security and trust minimisation. Furthermore, users can leverage the efficiency of WASM to save over 10x gas costs on complex cryptography.

Orbit chain can permissionlessly adopt any improvements made to the Arbitrum Nitro tech stack without approval from the DAO. This includes features such as permissionless validation, MEV capture, further cost reductions, and more, the team added.

Arbitrum is a suite of scaling solutions on Ethereum that utilize Optimistic Rollup. It allows users to enjoy faster speed and cheaper transaction costs when interacting with web3 dApps. ARB, the native coin of the Arbitrum network, is down by 6% today and is trading at $0.9186.
