A common argument for regular money (also known as fiat currency) as opposed to cryptocurrency is that you can’t use cryptocurrency to buy groceries and other everyday items. Well, through the use of a crypto debit card, you can. This is a review of Coinramp Card, one of the crypto debit cards out there

Coinramp is an interesting new card issued by a Nigerian company based in Lagos. The company was formerly known as Coinpaycard but underwent a rebranding.

The Coinramp Card is intended to be used by both new crypto investors, familiar investors, crypto adopters and globetrotters. The card has attractive functionality for each and every one of these groups.

One of the main focuses of the Coinramp Card seems to be that it is anonymous. You are not obliged to undergo any KYC when getting the card. This also means that you can create and fund as many different cards as you want.

Coinramp Card is a Visa Virtual Debit Card, meaning that you can use the card at any point of payment that accepts Visa. This is of course a great advantage, seeing that Visa is the most widely accepted card in the world (alongside MasterCard). According to information from Coinramp Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay-support is in the process of being added. The expectation is for the Apple Pay and Google Pay integration to be completed during Q1 2023.

Here's a picture of the Coinramp Card, obtained from their website on 17 January 2023:

What is a cashback feature? Well, it's actually quite simple, every time you use the card, a percentage of what you pay with the card gets transferred back to you, normally in the form of tokens.

Coinramp Card does not currently offer any form of cashback feature.

There are four different versions of the Coinramp Card: Basic, Standard, Premium and Platinum.

CoinPayCard Different Plans

The card currently has support for the following 11 cryptocurrencies:

  1. BTC;
  2. ETH;
  3. USDT;
  4. LTC;
  5. USDC;
  6. DOGE;
  7. SHIB;
  8. BCH;
  9. LINK;
  10. BAT; and
  11. ALGO.

Coinramp Card also has a referral program. When you create an account with Coinramp Card, you receive an affiliate code. If one of your friends sign up and uses that code, both you and your friend will receive USD 10 off the card.

CoinPayCard Referral Program

Coinramp Card's fees are fairly competitive. Overall, they are slightly less than Crypto.com's corresponding offering and slightly higher than Revolut's. The fees do however vary dependent upon which card you have.

There is an issuance fee for all versions of the card. It varies between the versions as follows:

Basic Card Issuance Fee: USD 55.00

Standard Card issuance Fee: USD 99.00

Premium Card Issuance Fee: USD 249.00

Platinum Card Issuance Fee: USD 499.00

There is a minimum monthly fee of $5 for any versions of the card. The main difference between the different card versions other than the issuance fee is the monthly spend limit. The better the card, the higher the monthly spend limit. The current maximum monthly spend limits are as follows:

Basic Card Monthly Spend Limit: USD 1,000

Standard Card Monthly Spend Limit: USD 2,000

Premium Card Monthly Spend Limit: USD 5,000

Platinum Card Monthly Spend Limit: USD 10,000

The most important fee of them all is the commission on spending. As far as we understand it, Coinramp Card doesn't charge any fees at all for spending. The only fee other than the issuance fee is a USD 1.50 fee per top-up of the card balance. This is very competitive indeed.

ATM-withdrawals are however not available, so there's no ATM-fees to speak of.
