Kuwait vs Tanzania

Crypto regulation comparison

Kuwait

Kuwait

Tanzania

Tanzania

Restricted
Partially Regulated

Kuwait has taken a restrictive approach to cryptocurrency. The Central Bank of Kuwait and the Capital Markets Authority have prohibited banks and financial institutions from processing crypto transactions. There is no licensing framework for crypto exchanges. However, owning crypto is not explicitly illegal, and there is no personal income tax in Kuwait, so no crypto-specific tax applies.

Tanzania's regulatory stance on crypto is evolving. The Bank of Tanzania warned against crypto in 2019, but the 2024 Finance Act introduced a 3% withholding tax on digital asset transactions — Tanzania's first legal recognition of crypto. A December 2024 High Court ruling held that taxed crypto transactions cannot be deemed unlawful. No comprehensive regulatory framework exists yet.
