Travala, the world’s leading crypto-native travel booking service, today announced the launch of the world’s first agentic AI travel protocol.

Travala Launches World’s First Agentic AI Travel Protocol

Travala, a crypto-native travel booking platform, has introduced what it claims is the world’s first agentic AI travel protocol, enabling autonomous AI agents to search, book, and pay for travel services without human-driven checkout flows.

In a press release shared with Cryptowisser, the team said the system supports bookings across more than 2.2 million hotels, including major global chains such as Marriott, Hilton, and IHG, with human involvement required only at the final payment authorization stage.

To encourage adoption, Travala is also offering a 10% cbBTC (Coinbase Wrapped Bitcoin) rebate to developers who build and integrate AI agents using its Travel MCP infrastructure.

A Push Toward the Agentic Economy

The launch comes amid rapid growth in what is being described as the “agentic economy,” where autonomous AI systems handle transactions and decision-making on behalf of users.

Industry projections cited by Travala estimate agentic commerce could reach $8 billion in 2026, expanding to $3.5 trillion by 2031. Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley Research suggests that “agentic shoppers” could account for up to 20% of global online retail spending by 2030, driven by intent-based, automated digital behavior.

Travala’s protocol is designed to position the company as an early infrastructure provider for this emerging shift.

At the core of the system is the Travala Travel MCP (Model Context Protocol), which is built on the Base blockchain and integrates the x402 protocol, an open payments standard enabling instant stablecoin transactions.

This infrastructure removes the friction of traditional booking and payment processes, allowing for gasless USDC transactions on Base with near-instant settlement times and transaction costs of approximately $0.01 per booking.

For users, the protocol enables an AI travel concierge that can plan and execute full trips within a single conversational interface, including platforms like Claude.

The system maintains contextual awareness for searches, bookings, and cancellations, while security is enforced through ERC-7715 session keys, ensuring that final payment authorization remains under user-controlled wallet permissions.

Developer Incentives and Onchain Reputation Layer

Developers integrating with Travala’s system gain access to a 10% cbBTC rebate on successful bookings, automatically distributed to their wallets without manual invoicing.

The protocol also incorporates ERC-8004, which links agent performance to verifiable onchain outcomes. This creates a reputation layer for AI agents, rewarding reliable performance and strengthening trust across the ecosystem.

As the protocol scales, new features will be added to the protocol alongside additional travel products, such as flights. The AVA token — the native cryptocurrency used within the travel loyalty program on Travala — is also expected to provide additional utility and support the growing use cases of the Travala Travel MCP.

While commenting on this launch, Juan Otero, CEO of Travala, said,

“The launch of the world’s first agentic AI travel protocol marks the death of the checkout button and the beginning of a truly autonomous travel economy. By combining our global travel inventory with the industry’s first machine-to-machine settlement protocol, we’re effectively hardcoding Travala as the default travel rail for the agentic web.”

The introduction of agentic AI booking tools reflects a broader shift toward infrastructure-level automation in digital services. Travala is positioning its Travel MCP as an early foundational layer for a future where travel planning and execution are increasingly handled by autonomous AI systems rather than traditional user interfaces.

Founded in 2017 and now backed by industry giant Binance, Travala is the leading crypto-native travel booking service with 2,200,000+ properties across 230 countries, 600+ airlines, 400,000+ activities, and 50,000+ car rental locations globally. Travala is a champion of cryptocurrency adoption, accepting over 100 leading cryptocurrencies alongside traditional payment methods. In addition to unbeatable prices via its Best Price Guarantee, Smart members on Travala can also enjoy additional discounts and loyalty rewards for eligible bookings made on the platform.
