On Wednesday, the Near Protocol announced via X that NEAR's latest protocol upgrade is now live. The nearcore v2.10 release introduces deterministic account IDs, the implementation of sharded smart contracts on mainnet.
v2.10 also includes execution in addition to consensus layer optimizations that helped achieve the recent 1M TPS benchmark.
NEAR Protocol is a decentralized application platform designed to make apps similarly usable to those on today’s web. The network runs on a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism called Nightshade, which aims to provide dynamic scalability and stabilize fees. NEAR is trading at $1.670, down 5.6% in the last 24 hours.
