The UK Government announced via the Treasury's Twitter account that it had asked the Royal Mint to create an NFT.

The UK Government announced via the Treasury's Twitter account that it had asked the Royal Mint to create an NFT, with a second Tweet shortly after stating the government’s plans “to make the UK a global crypto asset hub.” 

The Treasury also touched on several other points, including bringing stablecoins into regulation and legislation for a ‘financial market infrastructure sandbox', to help firms innovate in the crypto space." The plan is to release the new digital asset sometime this summer.
