The Solana Foundation launches STRIDE and SIRN security initiatives with Asymmetric Research to strengthen the Solana ecosystem and protect DeFi projects.

Solana Foundation Unveils STRIDE Program to Strengthen Ecosystem Security

TL;DR

  • The Solana Foundation has introduced new ecosystem-wide security initiatives, including STRIDE and the Solana Incident Response Network (SIRN), to strengthen protections across the Solana network.

  •  Led by Asymmetric Research, STRIDE provides independent security evaluations for protocols, with incentives such as ongoing monitoring and advanced verification tools for high-value projects.

Solana Foundation Rolls Out STRIDE and SIRN to Strengthen Ecosystem Security

The Solana Foundation announced a new set of initiatives on Monday aimed at improving security across the Solana ecosystem, doubling down on efforts to protect users, developers, and capital.

According to a blog post, the foundation is backing multiple security programs led by Asymmetric Research, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to providing robust security tools and services for the network.

At the center of the rollout is STRIDE — Solana Trust, Resilience and Infrastructure for DeFi Enterprises — a structured program designed to monitor and evaluate the security posture of Solana-based projects. Under STRIDE, Asymmetric will independently assess protocols using its proprietary security framework, with results made publicly available to users and investors for transparency.

The post added that,

"Solana Foundation has a long history of dedicating resources to ensure that security services and tools are available to the ecosystem, and today's announcement further strengthens that commitment."

The Solana Foundation added that Asymmetric will independently evaluate projects using its own security framework. Evaluation results will be publicly available to users and investors.

The initiative also introduces incentives for projects that meet certain thresholds. Protocols with over $10 million in total value locked (TVL) that successfully pass evaluations will receive ongoing operational security support and active threat monitoring funded by the foundation. Those exceeding $100 million in TVL will gain access to advanced formal verification tools for smart contracts.

In addition to STRIDE, the Solana Foundation launched the Solana Incident Response Network (SIRN) — a membership-based network of security firms and researchers dedicated to the Solana ecosystem. Founding participants include Asymmetric, OtterSec, and Neodyme.

SIRN is available to all Solana-based protocols, but access will be prioritized based on TVL, the foundation added.

Despite these expanded efforts, the Solana Foundation emphasized that responsibility for security ultimately remains with individual projects. While the new tools and networks are designed to enhance protection across the ecosystem, teams are still expected to maintain rigorous internal security practices.

The post concluded that,

"While Solana Foundation will continue to deploy resources to ensure a safer ecosystem that benefits everyone, this does not transfer the underlying responsibility away from the protocols themselves. These resources are offered to ensure security, not replace what individual teams must do themselves."

The move reflects a growing industry-wide push to proactively address vulnerabilities as decentralized finance continues to scale and attract institutional participation.
