World's proof-of-human technology is coming to FIFA, NFL, and Pudgy Penguin-branded games to verify real players.

Sam Altman's World Brings 'Proof of Human' IDs to FIFA, NFL, and Pudgy Penguins Games

Sam Altman's World project is partnering with web3 gaming studio Mythical Games to bring proof-of-humanity verification to major sports and entertainment gaming titles. The collaboration will integrate World ID technology into popular games including NFL Rivals, FIFA Rivals, and the Pudgy Penguins-inspired Pudgy Party, allowing the platforms to distinguish human players from automated bots.

The integration addresses a growing concern in gaming, as the companies noted that bots can manipulate in-game economies, gain unfair advantages, and claim rewards intended for human players. According to a World study from April, nearly 75% of gamers report that uninvited bot "players" are diminishing their gaming experience. The partnership aims to ensure only verified human players can access key ecosystem features like tournaments and asset marketplaces.

As part of the partnership, Mythical will build Mythos Chain, the first layer-3 blockchain atop World Chain, expanding the technical infrastructure for the collaboration. The project has also launched its World Chain mainnet, described as the first blockchain designed specifically to prioritize human activity and transactions.

Evolution of World's Verification Methods

World Network, with its native coin Worldcoin, was initially recognized for its iris-scanning Orb device that issues digital IDs to users who verify their humanity through in-person eyeball scans. The project recently unveiled an upgraded Orb version featuring 5G connectivity, enhanced AI capabilities powered by NVIDIA's Jetson chipset, and a removable external SD card for data inspection to address privacy concerns. To accommodate users hesitant about biometric data collection, World Network has developed alternative verification methods, including an option to scan NFC-enabled passports that verifies age and nationality without disclosing full identity details.

The project, backed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, has attracted more than 17 million users. Mythical Games will bring its gamer base to the World network while leveraging the proof-of-human ID technology for players signing up or logging into its titles, marking a significant step toward bot-free gaming ecosystems.
