On Thursday, the Filecoin Foundation announced via X that the Proof of Data Possession (PDP) is live on the mainnet. Filecoin’s new hot-storage proof lets providers show they have your file instantly, without unsealing or full retrieval.
A PDP challenge samples just 160 bytes, the same cost whether a file is 1 MB or 1 PB. Standard SHA hashing, no specialized hardware. Verification stays cryptographically sound but almost friction-free.
