Metaplanet Adds 1,111 Bitcoins to Its Balance Sheet
Japan's Metaplanet announced that it has purchased 1,111 bitcoins, bringing its total to 11,111 BTC, at an average price of $106,408 per bitcoin. In their announcement, company CEO Simon Gerovich said the latest acquisition cost Metaplanet $1.07 billion at $95,869 per bitcoin. Based on current market prices, Metaplanet's bitcoin treasury is valued at $1.12 billion.
This latest development comes a week after Metaplanet reached the 10,000 bitcoins target, which was its initial year-end goal for 2025. By hitting the 10k mark, Metaplanet has become the ninth-largest corporate bitcoin holder, surpassing Coinbase.
Metaplanet revised its end-of-the-year goal to accumulate 30,000 bitcoins, 100,000 BTC by 2026, and 210,000 BTC by the year after that. BTC is currently trading at $101,900, down nearly 1% in the last 24 hours.
