HBAR Foundation, the development team behind the Hedera blockchain, announced via a blog post on Monday that Karateka, the Web3 game built by GameOn leveraging the IP of Karate Combat, has launched on the Hedera network. Karateka brings playable digital fighter NFTs to combat sports fans across the world. These NFTs are now live on mainnet.

The team decided to leverage Hedera for its growing NFT ecosystem coupled with a best-in-class combination of speed, sustainability, and low fixed fees. Karateka bridges the familiarity of existing Web2 gameplay brought by PLAYN3XT with the scalability of the Hedera network, ultimately achieving the player experience necessary in the evolution of gaming.

Hedera Hashgraph is distributed public ledger infrastructure. According to the team, it offers significant improvements over existing blockchains in five areas: performance, security, governance, stability, and regulatory compliance. HBAR is trading at $0.0523 at press time, up by 1% over the last 24 hours.
