IG Europe Accelerates Entry Into Digital Assets
Leading trading firm IG Europe has partnered with crypto exchange Bitpanda to broaden its digital asset offerings across the European Union, according to an announcement released Thursday.
The partnership marks another step in parent company IG Group’s growing expansion into the cryptocurrency sector as institutional and retail demand for regulated crypto products continues to rise.
While announcing this, IG Europe Managing Director Esteve Jane said,
"This partnership broadens our product offering across Europe, giving experienced investors access to a wider range of asset classes with the quality and security they demand. Our clients want crypto exposure from a platform they trust. This partnership delivers it.”
IG Europe GmbH operates as the European subsidiary of UK-based online trading giant IG Group and is regulated by Germany’s financial authority, BaFin.
Over recent months, the company has accelerated its crypto expansion strategy through several major initiatives.
These include the acquisition of Australian crypto exchange Independent Reserve and securing a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license, allowing the company to provide crypto-related products and services across the European Union under a unified regulatory framework.
IG Group has also restructured parts of its digital asset business. Earlier this year, the company sold Small Exchange Inc., a futures trading platform it acquired in 2023, to cryptocurrency exchange Kraken as part of a broader collaboration agreement.
While commenting on the partnership, Bitpanda said the collaboration would reinforce its role as a key infrastructure provider for regulated financial institutions entering the digital asset market.
Nadeem Ladki, Global Head of Bitpanda Enterprise, stated that,
“Our mission is to help financial institutions bring digital assets to market safely and at scale. Supporting IG Europe, a leading regulated broker, reinforces our position as the infrastructure partner of choice for institutions building digital asset capabilities,” Ladki added.
Bitpanda has also been expanding its own product offerings and geographic reach in recent months.
The company recently launched operations in the UK and added support for thousands of equities and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), broadening its platform beyond cryptocurrency trading.
