Football governing body FIFA announced in a blog post on Monday that it has partnered with Algorand. The agreement means Algorand will become the official blockchain platform of FIFA and provide the official blockchain-supported wallet solution. Furthermore, Algorand will be a FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Regional Supporter in North America and Europe and a FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 Official Sponsor.

Algorand is an open-source, permissionless, Pure Proof-of-Stake (PPoS) blockchain protocol for “the next generation of financial products”. As such, Algorand ensures "full participation, protection and speed within a truly decentralized network".

ALGO is trading at $0.7270 at press time, up by more than 20% in the last 24 hours.
