The Fantom Foundation announced via a blog post on Thursday that its community has voted to adjust staking rewards on the network.

The Fantom Foundation announced via a blog post on Thursday that its community has voted to adjust staking rewards on the network. The community has agreed to set the staking APR to 6% and to extend the duration of staking rewards emissions to 4.7 years.

Prior to the vote, staking rewards yielded a 13% yearly return. The Fantom Foundation explained that the new staking rewards rate of 6% aligns with peer Layer-1s and ensures sustainability for the next 4.7 years. The new rate went live shortly after the vote, the team added. 

Fantom is building a programmable platform on a directed acyclic-graph-based distributed ledger. Fantom’s FTM coin is up by 4% in the last 24 hours and is currently trading at $0.2108.
