Coinbase Gains Regulatory Approval in Argentina
Crypto exchange Coinbase announced on Tuesday that it has received regulatory approval to offer services to users in Argentina.
The company was issued a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license by Argentina’s National Securities Commission (CNV). This latest development is part of Coinbase’s efforts to increase economic freedom globally. It also comes roughly two years after Coinbase launched its services in Brazil as it began expanding into Latin America.
Cryptocurrency is gaining adoption in Argentina, with roughly five million Argentinians using crypto daily. Coinbase pointed out that 76% of adults in the country see crypto as a solution to some of their financial frustrations, including high inflation and transaction costs.
Matìas Alberti will head the Coinbase Argentina unit and has vast experience, having previously worked in the fintech field at Buenbit and Clara.
