Ripple acquires Palisade to strengthen its institutional crypto custody and payment services as corporations enter the digital asset market.

Ripple Acquires Palisade to Expand Institutional Crypto Services

Ripple has acquired crypto custody and wallet company Palisade in a move to expand its institutional offerings and serve fintechs, crypto-native firms, and corporations. The acquisition will see Palisade's wallet-as-a-service technology integrated into Ripple Custody, the company's crypto custody arm that targets banks and institutional clients.

Ripple President Monica Long emphasized that corporations are positioned to drive the next significant wave of cryptocurrency adoption, similar to how major banks have shifted from observing to actively building in the crypto space. She noted that corporate clients entering the market require trusted, licensed partners with ready-to-use capabilities.

Palisade's wallet offering will also be incorporated into Ripple Payments, the company's cross-border payments service, providing core infrastructure for subscription payments and collection capabilities. The new tools will support high-speed use cases including crypto-to-fiat on and off-ramps with multi-blockchain support and decentralized finance protocol integration.

This acquisition marks approximately $4 billion that Ripple has spent on acquiring crypto companies, with most major deals occurring this year. The company has rapidly expanded its portfolio following the Securities and Exchange Commission dropping its long-running legal case, with recent acquisitions including Hidden Road for $1.25 billion, GTreasury for $1 billion, and Rail for $200 million.

Ripple Expands Through Strategic Partnerships and Integrations

Beyond acquisitions, Ripple has been actively building partnerships to strengthen its ecosystem. The company recently partnered with Alchemy Pay to enable fiat on-ramp access for Ripple USD (RLUSD), its stablecoin backed 1:1 by U.S. dollars and equivalent cash reserves. This partnership allows users in over 173 countries to seamlessly purchase RLUSD through Alchemy Pay's extensive fiat-crypto payment network, supporting enterprise-grade applications in cross-border payments and digital finance infrastructure.

Ripple has also integrated with Wormhole to expand the XRP Ledger's multichain interoperability capabilities. The integration with both the XRPL mainnet and the XRPL EVM Sidechain enables cross-chain messaging, asset transfers, and multichain token issuances. Developers can now transfer XRPL assets including XRP, Issued Assets, and Multi-Purpose Tokens across more than 35 supported chains, while interacting with smart contracts across chains using messaging and data triggers. This expansion supports additional use cases across decentralized finance, institutional onchain finance, and real-world assets.
