Coinbase plans to relaunch Pro in 2026 after completing its Deribit integration, with expanded options access and spot margin offering up to 10x leverage.

Coinbase to Revive Pro Platform and Open $30B Derivatives Market to U.S. Traders

TL;DR

  • Coinbase plans to bring back Coinbase Pro by the end of 2026 with upgraded tools for active traders.

  • The company has completed its Deribit integration, creating Coinbase Global Exchange.

  • Coinbase Financial Markets will soon connect eligible U.S. clients to global derivatives liquidity, according to the company.

  • Deribit-powered options, spot margin trading, and unified portfolios will roll out in the coming weeks, with availability varying by market and client type.

Coinbase plans to revive its Pro trading platform by the end of the year as it completes the integration of derivatives exchange Deribit and expands access to options, perpetual futures, and margin trading.

Announcing the developments at TOKEN2049 Singapore, Coinbase said the integration has created Coinbase Global Exchange. Its U.S.-regulated futures commission merchant, Coinbase Financial Markets, will soon connect eligible American clients to global crypto derivatives liquidity.

The company also outlined plans to introduce Deribit-powered options, spot margin, and unified portfolios in the coming weeks.

Deribit Integration Connects U.S. and International Markets

Coinbase said its integrated exchange infrastructure will connect U.S. and international derivatives markets through a single liquidity pool.

According to the company, guidance issued by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in May enables Coinbase Financial Markets to connect eligible U.S. clients with global crypto derivatives markets.

Coinbase said this arrangement gives U.S. institutional investors a regulated route to options and perpetual futures that previously required offshore entities, multiple counterparties, and separate trading venues.

The rollout will take place in stages. Eligible traders outside the United States are expected to gain access to options in the coming weeks, while access for U.S. retail traders is planned for later this year.

U.S. institutional clients will be able to trade Deribit options and perpetual futures through Coinbase Prime. Onboarding is already open, with options trading expected to begin in the coming weeks.

Coinbase said institutional customers will be able to access spot trading, futures, perpetuals, and options alongside custody, financing, and staking through the same platform.

The expansion follows Coinbase’s approximately $2.9 billion cash-and-stock acquisition of Deribit, completed in August 2025.

According to Coinbase, Deribit had more than $30 billion in Bitcoin options open interest as of September 30 and processed over $1 trillion in trading volume last year. Those figures underline the scale of the derivatives business being integrated into Coinbase’s broader offering.

Coinbase Pro Returns With Tools for Active Traders

Coinbase Pro is scheduled to return before the end of 2026, marking a revival of the platform the company shut down after moving advanced trading into its main application.

Coinbase announced the original platform’s closure in 2022, with the transition to Coinbase Advanced completed in November 2023.

The rebuilt Pro platform will feature faster order routing, improved execution workflows, and advanced tools aimed at high-volume traders, according to Coinbase.

The company said the platform will support active traders executing complex strategies across its supported markets. Its announcement did not specify an exact launch date.

This latest development comes a week after Coinbase Clearing received CFTC registration to clear fully collateralized derivatives, adding an in-house clearing house to Coinbase’s regulated trading infrastructure.

Spot Margin Trading Will Offer Up to 10 Times Leverage

Coinbase also plans to introduce spot margin trading, allowing eligible users to borrow against their collateral to increase the size of spot positions.

The offering will provide leverage of up to 10 times on selected major assets and up to five times on other supported assets.

Availability will depend on trader eligibility and the assets supported. Borrowing to increase position size amplifies exposure to price movements, increasing both potential gains and losses.

Alongside the planned products, Coinbase has introduced a new matching engine, shortened its onboarding process, and revised Coinbase Advanced fee tiers.

The updated tiers begin at $10,000 in qualifying trading volume and combine spot and derivatives activity when calculating a trader’s tier.
