The Algorand Foundation announced via Twitter on Wednesday that it has launched the Kare Survivor Wallet. The wallet was launched thanks to partnerships with Disaster Service Corporation, National VOAD, and Aid:Tech.

Thanks to funding from Red Cross, the platform leverages the Algorand blockchain to facilitate and expedite the delivery of critical goods to families in disaster-stricken areas. Using a mobile app, families verify their identities, receive credits, and redeem them for critical supplies directly from Amazon, in as few as 24 hours, compared to a traditional end-to-end process that could take up to several months.

Algorand is an open-source, permissionless, Pure Proof-of-Stake (PPoS) blockchain protocol for “the next generation of financial products.” As such, Algorand ensures "full participation, protection and speed within a truly decentralized network."  ALGO is trading at $0.1802 at press time, up by more than 1% in the last 24 hours.
