On Tuesday, the Immutable team announced via a blog post that it will merge Immutable X into Immutable zkEVM to form one unified “Immutable” chain as the true home of web3 gaming.
The merger will happen this year, and Immutable will handle the upgrade of assets and funds; no action is required from the users. There are no changes to RPCs, no changes to chain ID, and all existing states will persist.
All Immutable X games use a standard template for their ERC20 and ERC721 assets. The team will automatically deploy corresponding template contracts (ERC20, ERC721) for these assets on Immutable. Immutable will cover the gas for all migration and re-issuance of assets.
Immutable X is an L2 scaling solution for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on Ethereum, with instant trading, massive scalability, and zero gas fees for minting and trading with shared security with the Ethereum mainnet. IMX is up 5% today, trading at $0.391 at press time.
