human.tech Launches Clean SDK to Bring Privacy-Preserving Compliance to Web3 Applications

human.tech has launched the Clean SDK, enabling developers to build privacy-preserving Web3 applications with zero-knowledge identity verification, sanctions screening, and confidential transactions.

human.tech has introduced the Clean SDK, a programmable toolkit designed to help developers build privacy-preserving Web3 applications while meeting compliance requirements through zero-knowledge technology.

In a press release shared with Cryptowisser, the team said this product was released alongside Aztec v5 and allows developers to integrate identity verification, sanctions screening, and confidential transactions into decentralized applications without handling sensitive user information or creating compliance infrastructure from scratch.

The launch seeks to address one of the blockchain industry's longstanding challenges: enabling financial privacy while maintaining accountability for users and regulators.

Zero-knowledge Verification Replaces Traditional Identity Checks

The Clean SDK combines zero-knowledge proofs with programmable verification tools that allow applications to confirm a user's legitimacy and verify that funds have passed sanctions screening without revealing personal information.

According to human.tech, the approach enables developers to preserve user privacy while demonstrating compliance through cryptographic proofs rather than storing or processing sensitive identity data.

Instead of exposing personally identifiable information (PII), the system verifies specific conditions—such as identity status or sanctions compliance—without disclosing the underlying data.

Launching alongside the SDK is Shield, the first application built using the Clean SDK. Shield serves as a privacy-preserving bridge between Ethereum and Aztec, enabling users and autonomous AI agents to transfer assets while proving in zero knowledge that each transaction originates from a real, unique individual and that deposited funds have been screened against sanctions databases.

human.tech said Shield's smart contracts underwent an independent security audit by Nethermind in May 2026, with all identified issues subsequently resolved.

Three Verification Layers Power the Clean SDK

The Clean SDK includes three core verification mechanisms designed to support different compliance requirements:

  • Proof of Innocence screens wallets and digital assets against 23 sanctions data sources at both deposit and withdrawal.

  • Proof of Personhood provides lightweight verification using Human Passport to confirm that users are unique individuals.

  • Proof of Clean Hands offers enhanced verification through zero-knowledge government identity credentials for higher-value or higher-risk transactions.

Together, these tools allow decentralized applications to verify users and transactions without exposing personal identities or storing plaintext identity records.

While commenting on this launch, Shady El Damaty, co-founder of human.tech, stated that,

"Privacy without accountability invites abuse, while accountability without privacy becomes surveillance. The Clean SDK eliminates that false choice by giving developers programmable building blocks for private, accountable applications. Shield demonstrates what's possible today, but our goal is to enable an entire ecosystem of applications built on the same foundation."

The SDK is designed primarily for developers building on Aztec, enabling them to integrate programmable privacy directly into decentralized applications without independently implementing identity verification, sanctions compliance, and zero-knowledge infrastructure.

While Shield focuses on private asset transfers between Ethereum and Aztec, human.tech says the SDK can support a broad range of Web3 use cases, including decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms, autonomous AI agents, payment systems, and other blockchain applications requiring confidential yet verifiable transactions.

human.tech said the launch reflects increasing demand from institutions for infrastructure that combines user privacy with transparent regulatory compliance.

Rather than relying on centralized identity databases, the Clean SDK keeps identity information encrypted off-chain while applying sanctions screening at both the entry and exit points of transactions. The platform also includes a gated disclosure mechanism intended for legitimate legal requests, providing a framework that balances confidentiality with regulatory oversight.

By combining zero-knowledge proofs with programmable compliance, human.tech aims to give developers a foundation for building Web3 applications that protect user privacy without sacrificing accountability.
