The Graph Protocol announced via X on Thursday that the Horizon upgrade is now live. The upgrade allows The Graph to support a modular, multi-service future.
Horizon unlocks the ability for new data services to be built on the same protocol. Subgraphs continue as always, but The Graph’s underlying protocol now has the capacity to integrate new products like real-time streams, preindexed APIs, analytics tools, and more. The Graph is not just Subgraphs; it’s a data protocol with many data services.
For developers, different use cases need different data services. DeFi frontends rely on Subgraphs. Trading systems, AI models, and high-transaction chains need real-time streams. Wallets and AI agents depend on preindexed APIs. Analytics teams need full-historical pipelines accessible with SQL.
With Horizon, all of these data services can run on one protocol with shared economic security instead of a fragmented infrastructure.
