CertiK will independently verify Sui’s bid to surpass 6 million effective TPS using programmable offchain tunnels at Basecamp 2026.

Sui to Attempt 6M+ Transactions-Per-Second Record, Verified by CertiK

Web3 security provider CertiK will serve as the independent evaluator for Sui’s live transaction throughput record attempt at Sui Basecamp 2026.

Scheduled for October 7 on the event’s Summit Stage, the demonstration will be led by Adeniyi Abiodun, co-founder and chief product officer at Mysten Labs, the original contributor to Sui.

In a press release shared with Cryptowisser, CerTik stated that the network aims to surpass its reported throughput record of 6,086,766 transactions per second, established on July 4, 2026. CertiK will oversee the testing process and assess the evidence before any official claims about a new record are made.

Sui’s Test Will Measure Effective TPS Through Offchain Tunnels

The attempt will evaluate effective transaction throughput enabled by Sui’s programmable tunnels. These are offchain state and payment channels that settle to Sui mainnet when they close.

The distinction matters: the test measures activity conducted through those channels, rather than claiming that every transaction is processed directly on Sui mainnet.

According to Sui, the tunnels operate similarly to Lightning Network channels. Their programmability, however, supports a broader range of interactions beyond payments.

During the demonstration, AI agents and users will generate activity through gaming, messaging, and transactions. The test is intended to demonstrate how the infrastructure could support applications involving large numbers of automated participants.

CertiK’s role will cover both oversight of the testing process and verification of the final effective TPS metrics.

The security firm will examine associated proofs, execution logs, journals, and other supporting evidence to establish what the demonstration achieved. Once its review is complete, CertiK will publish a performance report detailing the verification outcomes.

Yuannan Yang, CertiK’s director of security engineering, said the company’s responsibility is to assess the evidence independently and accurately describe the results, regardless of the final outcome.

Yang also emphasized that transparent, independently verifiable performance measurements are becoming increasingly important as blockchain infrastructure scales. Such assessments can provide a clearer basis for evaluating infrastructure supporting new applications within Sui and across the broader industry.

Mysten Labs Targets Demand From AI Agents

For Mysten Labs, the record attempt reflects an expectation that AI agents will generate transaction volumes beyond those associated with human activity.

Abiodun said Sui is being developed for an environment in which millions of agents transact daily. He argued that automated systems could create demand for throughput exceeding six million transactions per second, even if human-driven markets do not require that capacity.

The October 7 demonstration will test that ambition against Sui’s previous benchmark. Whether it establishes a new verified record will depend on the results and CertiK’s subsequent review.

Sui Basecamp is the ecosystem’s flagship annual gathering. The 2026 event will take place alongside TOKEN2049 Singapore, bringing together participants from blockchain, technology, finance, and AI.
