Robinhood plans U.S. crypto perpetual futures with up to 10x leverage, weekend stock trading pending review, and tools for building AI agents.

Robinhood to Offer 10x Leverage Crypto Perpetual Futures in US

TL;DR

  • Robinhood plans to introduce in-app perpetual futures for eligible U.S. users in the coming months.

  • Bitcoin and ether contracts will offer up to 10x leverage, with up to 3x leverage on other supported assets.

  • Bitstamp will support the offering, with a promotional trading fee of 0.01% through year-end.

  • Robinhood also plans 24/7 trading for selected stocks and ETFs, subject to regulatory review.

Robinhood is expanding its U.S. trading platform with plans for cryptocurrency perpetual futures, weekend equity trading and tools for creating AI agents inside its app.

The company announced the initiatives Tuesday, positioning them as extensions of its existing derivatives, extended-hours trading and agentic finance services.

Perpetual futures are expected to arrive in the coming months for eligible U.S. customers. The proposed move to round-the-clock equity trading remains subject to regulatory review.

Crypto Perpetual Futures Will Offer Up to 10x Leverage

Robinhood plans to let eligible users take long or short positions through perpetual futures linked to bitcoin, ether, Solana, XRP, Dogecoin, Cardano, Chainlink and Hyperliquid’s HYPE token.

The contracts will offer up to 10x leverage for bitcoin and ether, while the other supported assets will offer up to 3x leverage.

Unlike futures contracts with a fixed expiration date, perpetual contracts remain open without a scheduled expiry. Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said the offering would settle profit and loss every 15 minutes.

Bitstamp will support the service. Robinhood said it will charge 0.01% per trade through the end of the year, although the announcement details provided do not specify pricing after that promotional period.

The company has not supplied an exact launch date beyond its planned rollout in the coming months.

Robinhood says traders will be able to set stop-loss and take-profit orders, monitor liquidation prices in real time, and receive alerts when positions are at risk.

Those features are intended to help customers manage leveraged positions. Leverage increases exposure relative to the capital committed, amplifying both potential gains and losses.

The launch comes as more crypto businesses explore opportunities to offer perpetual futures in the United States.

Speaking to The Block on Tuesday, Ondo Perps CEO David Wells described the U.S. market as a substantial opportunity, saying firms are examining possibilities that previously were unavailable.

Robinhood’s announcement adds another major consumer trading platform to that expansion, although access will depend on customer eligibility.

Weekend Trading Would Extend Robinhood’s Equity Market

Robinhood also plans to introduce 24/7 trading for selected U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds, pending regulatory review.

Its existing 24 Hour Market supports trading in hundreds of securities from Sunday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time through Friday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

The proposed expansion would add weekend access, initially covering a curated selection of stocks and ETFs rather than every security on the platform.

Bruce ATS, an alternative trading system, will support the offering.

The announcement therefore outlines a broader trading schedule, but the service has not yet received the regulatory clearance identified as necessary for launch.

Alongside the trading announcements, Robinhood introduced Robinhood Agents, which allows customers to build AI agents within its application.

The company says users can create agents to conduct research, develop trading strategies, or trade automatically.

The feature builds on Robinhood’s agentic trading service launched in May, which lets customers connect third-party AI agents to the platform.

According to Robinhood, more than 150,000 users have opened agentic trading accounts since that launch. The company said those agents now use its tools nearly 30 million times daily.

The new product brings agent-building capabilities into Robinhood’s own interface, broadening its role beyond providing connections for external systems.

Together, the announcements expand the platform’s ambitions across leveraged crypto trading, continuous equity access and automated financial workflows. The timing differs across the products, with perpetual futures planned for the coming months and weekend stock trading awaiting regulatory review.
