OpenSea has added Solana NFT trading to its OS2 marketplace, expanding beyond EVM networks as competition for Solana collectors intensifies.

OpenSea Brings Solana NFTs Back, Taking On Magic Eden and Tensor

TL;DR

  • OpenSea has added support for buying, selling, and trading Solana-based NFTs.

  • The integration follows an unsuccessful beta launch involving 165 collections in April 2022.

  • Solana becomes the first non-EVM blockchain supported for NFT trading on OpenSea since the original beta ended.

  • Users can trade collections including Claynosaurz, Mad Lads, BoDoggos, Collector Crypt and Phygitals.

OpenSea has introduced support for Solana non-fungible tokens, allowing users to buy, sell and trade digital collectibles issued on the blockchain.

The integration expands OpenSea’s multichain marketplace beyond networks compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine. It also gives Solana NFT creators and collectors access to one of the industry’s best-known trading platforms.

OpenSea Revisits Solana Four Years After Beta Launch

The rollout arrives more than four years after OpenSea first introduced Solana NFTs in beta in April 2022.

That initial integration supported only 165 collections and struggled to gain meaningful adoption. Competing platforms Magic Eden and Tensor subsequently captured most of Solana’s NFT trading volume.

Earlier this year, Magic Eden discontinued its Bitcoin and EVM marketplaces as part of an effort to refocus its operations on Solana.

OpenSea’s renewed support could intensify competition for users and trading activity within the Solana NFT ecosystem.

Solana returned to OpenSea in April 2025 through the company’s redesigned OS2 platform. However, the integration initially supported only fungible tokens.

OpenSea said at the time that NFT support would follow. The marketplace also enabled users to pay for NFTs on other blockchains using SOL last year.

An OpenSea representative said OS2 had been rebuilt from the ground up as a multichain platform. The company began with support for Solana-based tokens before extending the integration to NFTs.

The representative added that Solana NFTs have become increasingly relevant as more digital-collectibles platforms adopt the network.

Solana Becomes OpenSea’s First Supported Non-EVM NFT Chain

Solana is now the first non-EVM blockchain available for NFT trading on OpenSea since the company ended its original beta.

Most of OpenSea’s other supported networks are EVM-compatible, including:

  • Ethereum

  • Polygon

  • Arbitrum

  • Optimism

  • Avalanche

  • Base

  • Monad

  • Sei

  • Berachain

Adding Solana expands OpenSea’s addressable market and supports its goal of becoming a marketplace for assets across multiple blockchain ecosystems.

OpenSea users can now discover and trade several well-known Solana NFT collections through the platform.

Supported collections include Claynosaurz, Mad Lads, BoDoggos, Collector Crypt and Phygitals.

The integration could expose these projects to OpenSea’s existing user base while giving Solana collectors an alternative to dedicated marketplaces such as Magic Eden and Tensor.

NFT Trading Remains Far Below Its Peak

OpenSea’s Solana expansion comes during a difficult period for the broader NFT industry.

Monthly marketplace volumes reached billions of dollars during the sector’s 2021 and 2022 boom. They have since fallen to a few hundred million dollars.

Several major companies have either reduced their exposure to NFTs or exited the sector completely.

Binance closed its centralized NFT marketplace in June and instructed users to transfer eligible assets to Binance Wallet or another compatible external wallet.

Nifty Gateway, Kraken NFT and X2Y2 have also shut down in recent months and years. Despite the market contraction, OpenSea’s Solana integration suggests that the company still sees opportunities in consolidating NFT trading across multiple blockchain networks.
