OnePlanet, a leading marketplace for non-fungible tokens on Polygon, said today it’s partnering with South Korean-based YouTube channel Sandbox Network to support the expansion of its new NFT collection, MetaToyDragonZ (MTDZ).

OnePlanet, a leading marketplace for non-fungible tokens on Polygon, said today it’s partnering with South Korean-based YouTube channel Sandbox Network to support the expansion of its new NFT collection, MetaToyDragonZ (MTDZ).

The MTDZ NFT collection was developed by Sandbox Network as part of its expansion into the metaverse and Web3. The project is one of a new breed of so-called “play-to-earn” games that leverage NFTs and blockchain technology to enable players to earn crypto rewards during gameplay. The NFTs enable players to control Meta Toy Dragons and battle with others to take over the throne of a fantasy toy world.

Sandbox Network first launched the MTDZ NFTs on the Klaytn blockchain that was built by Ground X, the blockchain subsidiary of South Korean messaging giant Kakao. While the initial launch has been extremely successful, connecting hundreds of Sandbox’s creators to the Web3 community, the launch on Polygon is designed to bring the game to a much wider audience. As part of the expansion, Sandbox Network also plans to launch a new metaverse called Meta Toy World (MTW), which will host various multi-chain NFT games and Web3 projects.

The rebranded MTDZ 2.0 collection is expected to go live on Polygon early next year alongside the official launch of Meta Toy City, a new P2E game that’s based on MTDZ’s IP. Meta Toy City launched in closed beta earlier this month.

OnePlanet, one of the largest Polygon-based NFT marketplaces, is set to play a key role in the launch of both MTDZ 2.0 and Meta Toy City. The marketplace has extensive experience in providing support to Polygon-based NFT and game projects. One advantage it brings is that it’s able to provide technical support for projects that want to add greater utility to their NFTs, such as by enabling them to be traded using their project’s native ERC-20 cryptocurrency tokens.

OnePlanet Chief Executive Pryce Cho said the goal is to support MTDZ’s expansion onto Polygon, with the goal being to reach a much broader audience. It’s a smart move for Sandbox Network, as Polygon is one of the most popular scaling solutions for Ethereum, which is the number one smart contract blockchain in terms of users.

"We are pleased to bring great partners to Polygon, the most suitable ecosystem for projects to expand globally,” Cho said. “OnePlanet will continually support our partners to settle and grow on Polygon.”

OnePlanet is also looking to play a central role in the launch of future Sandbox Network projects on Polygon. It said its prior experience in launching big name projects like Derby Stars and Tower Token by Animoca Brands will enable it to provide strong support for the rollout of Meta Toy City via its NFT minting and marketplace services.
