Celo announced via X on Thursday that native USDT stablecoin is now live on the Celo blockchain. According to Celo, this latest development creates a pathway for stablecoin adoption and simplifying onchain payments to bolster real-world adoption of crypto

The team previously proposed using USDT as a gas currency, which will help make transactions more efficient within dApps as it transitions to a Layer-2 blockchain. USDT is already live on several blockchains, including Ethereum, BNBChain, Polygon, Avalanche, Near, Tron, and others. 

Celo is an open platform that supports various distributed applications, smart contract development and payments using e-mail addresses and phone numbers as public keys. CELO is up by less than 1% in the last 24 hours and is currently trading at $1.263.
