The Celo team announced via Twitter on Thursday that LayerZero Labs has officially launched on its mainnet. The launch means that the Celo ecosystem is connecting to LayerZero’s 13 EVM blockchains and other non-EVM blockchains. LayerZero enables Omni-chain interoperability for dapps across DeFi, NFTs, gaming, and more, by leveraging a low-level communication protocol. For Celo users, LayerZero protocol handles gas abstraction, so they only need their source chain native gas token for transactions across multiple chains.
Celo is an open platform that supports various distributed applications, smart contract development and payments using e-mail addresses and phone numbers as public keys. CELO is up by more than 3% in the last 24 hours and is currently trading at $0.597.
