As QR code payments continue to dominate consumer transactions across Latin America, KuCoin Pay is expanding its presence in two of the region’s fastest-growing digital payment markets: Argentina and Peru.
The cryptocurrency payment solution from KuCoin announced an enhancement of its QR-based payment capabilities, allowing users to seamlessly spend cryptocurrencies and stablecoins through widely adopted local payment networks.
The move aligns with the growing preference for mobile-first financial services across the region, where QR payments are commonly used for retail purchases, transportation, food delivery, and peer-to-peer transfers.
Integration With Leading Local Payment Networks
In Argentina, KuCoin Pay now supports the Transferencias 3.0 network, enabling users to make payments through interoperable QR codes available on popular platforms such as Mercado Pago.
Meanwhile, in Peru, the service integrates with major digital payment platforms, including Yape and Plin, giving users the ability to use digital assets in familiar everyday payment situations, ranging from shopping and dining to travel-related expenses.
The expansion is aimed at bridging the gap between cryptocurrency holdings and real-world spending by leveraging payment methods consumers already use on a daily basis.
A key component of KuCoin Pay’s strategy is its universal QR connectivity infrastructure, which allows transactions to be routed through localized payment channels.
With this system, users can simply scan a QR code and complete a payment through KuCoin Pay, while the platform automatically processes the transaction through supported local networks. This approach removes much of the complexity traditionally associated with crypto payments and creates a user experience similar to conventional digital payment methods.
By integrating directly with existing payment ecosystems, KuCoin Pay seeks to make cryptocurrency spending more accessible and practical for everyday use.
KuCoin Sees Payments as the Next Stage of Crypto Adoption
According to Alicia Kao, Managing Director of KuCoin, real-world utility will play a crucial role in driving the next wave of cryptocurrency adoption.
“Real-world utility will define the next phase of crypto adoption, and payments are where this shift becomes most visible,” Kao said.
She added that KuCoin Pay is focused on building localized infrastructure that connects Web3 technologies with the banking and payment systems consumers already trust and use.
Kao noted that the company’s expansion across Latin America is intended to help digital assets evolve beyond investment and trading tools into practical instruments for daily financial activity, while also contributing to more inclusive and future-ready financial ecosystems.
KuCoin Pay said it plans to continue strengthening its localization efforts across emerging markets. The company aims to broaden payment use cases, improve regional integrations, and support wider adoption of crypto-based payments in high-growth economies.
As demand for digital payments continues to rise across Latin America, the expansion into Argentina and Peru represents another step toward making cryptocurrency a viable option for everyday transactions.
