Corrections & Retractions Policy

Last updated: July 9th, 2025

At Cryptowisser News, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of journalistic accuracy, transparency, and accountability. This Corrections & Retractions Policy outlines the procedures we follow when errors, inaccuracies, or omissions are identified in our published content.

We believe that public trust is earned not by avoiding mistakes entirely---an impossible standard---but by how responsibly and transparently we address them.

1. Definitions

  • Correction: A modification to a published article to amend factual inaccuracies, typographical errors, or other unintentional mistakes that do not materially change the overall meaning or significance of the content.
  • Retraction: A formal withdrawal of an article or a portion thereof due to significant errors, ethical breaches, legal risks, or issues that undermine the article's validity or journalistic integrity.
  • Clarification: An addition to a published article to improve reader understanding where content was not incorrect but potentially ambiguous or misleading.

2. Process for Identifying Errors

Errors may be identified by our editorial staff, third-party fact-checkers, subject-matter experts, or members of the public. We encourage our readers to report any potential inaccuracies or concerns by contacting us at [email protected] or via the contact details set out on our page About Us.

All submissions will be reviewed promptly and thoroughly.

3. Evaluation Criteria

Upon receiving a correction request, the editorial team will:

  • Review the original article, source materials, and the nature of the complaint;
  • Consult the journalist or contributor responsible, when appropriate;
  • Seek external validation or subject-matter expertise for disputed technical or legal facts; and
  • Determine whether the issue merits a correction, clarification, or full retraction.

4. Implementation of Corrections

If a correction is warranted, we will:

  • Amend the relevant portion of the article to reflect accurate information;
  • Clearly label the change by adding a correction notice either at the top or bottom of the article, with the following information:
    • Date of correction.
    • Nature of the correction.
    • Whether the correction materially affects the substance or tone of the article.

Example notice:

Correction (1 July 2025): An earlier version of this article incorrectly listed John Doe as the Chief Executive Officer of Company Z. The correct name of the Chief Executive Officer of Company Z is Jane Doe.

5. Implementation of Clarifications

When content is technically accurate but may have been misunderstood or lacked important context, we may issue a clarification. These are formatted similarly to corrections and are typically appended at the end of the article.

6. Retractions

An article may be retracted in whole or in part when:

  • It contains egregious factual errors;
  • It was based on fabricated sources or unethical reporting;
  • It exposes the publisher to legal liability (e.g., defamation, breach of embargo, etc.); or
  • It violates our Editorial Standards (e.g., plagiarism, undisclosed conflicts of interest).

Procedure:

  • The article will be replaced by a retraction notice explaining the reason for removal.
  • Where appropriate, the original text may remain accessible in a redacted form for archival transparency, with disclaimers clearly displayed.

Example notice:

Retraction (1 July 2025): This article has been retracted due to inaccuracies that could not be substantiated and failure to meet our editorial standards. We regret the error.

7. Editorial Discretion and Timeliness

All correction and retraction decisions are made at the sole discretion of our editorial leadership. We aim to address substantiated claims within 2 business days, though complex matters (e.g., involving legal counsel) may require additional time.

8. Archiving and Audit Trail

We maintain an internal log of all corrections, clarifications, and retractions for editorial oversight and periodic auditing. This helps ensure consistent application of standards across the publication.

9. No Silent Corrections

We do not engage in "silent corrections." Any post-publication change that materially alters the factual content or tone of an article will be accompanied by a visible editorial note.

10. Legal and Ethical Alignment

This policy is in alignment with recognized industry standards, including:
