Charles Schwab, a leading brokerage and investment firm, has announced a phased rollout of its spot crypto trading services for retail clients.

The new offering, called Schwab Crypto, will provide direct access to Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) trading, along with educational resources and insights from the company’s research hub.

Schwab Crypto Expands Retail Investment Options with Digital Assets

The newly established Schwab Crypto service will allow retail investors to trade spot Bitcoin and Ethereum, complementing the company’s existing investment products.

Jonathan Craig, Head of Retail Investing at Charles Schwab, emphasized that the firm aims to offer a comprehensive experience that goes beyond trading.

In addition to trading, Schwab Crypto will provide in-depth educational content on digital assets, featuring research, insights, and expert commentary from the Schwab Center for Financial Research.

With tailored coaching and crypto-focused materials, Schwab aims to empower retail traders with a deeper understanding of the sector.

This latest development comes less than two weeks after Charles Schwab opened a waitlist for direct Bitcoin and Ether trading via its new Schwab Crypto account.

Future Plans for Expanded Crypto Offerings and Custody Services

Schwab also plans to expand its digital asset offerings to include additional cryptocurrencies and to support both deposit and withdrawal transactions in the future.

To access Schwab Crypto, clients must maintain a separate crypto account with Charles Schwab Premier Bank (CSPB) and link it directly to their brokerage accounts. The CSPB will provide custody services for customers' digital assets.

Paxos, a regulated blockchain platform, has been selected to offer sub-custody and trade execution services, ensuring secure and efficient transactions for Schwab’s clients.
