Cardano Surges 11% as Bitcoin Stalls Below $87,100 Resistance

TL;DR

  • BTC holds near $86,100, but 87,100–87,330 remains the key breakout hurdle. 

  • ETH’s recovery faces weaker fund demand: reported U.S. ETF flows total −$118 million for September 28–October 2, with Friday incomplete. 

  • ADA leads this group, up about 11% in 24 hours; XRP and SOL show much smaller gains.

  • ETF buying slowed sharply: BTC’s reported weekly subtotal is +$82.9 million, provisional; SOL’s published weekly total is just +$0.8 million.

  • Wednesday’s Fed minutes are the main verified scheduled catalyst, potentially testing the recent easing in rate-hike expectations.

BTC: The recovery remains below resistance at 87,086–87,330. A daily close above that zone would strengthen the case for 88,000–89,000; losing $84,441 would weaken it. ETF flows were +$102.7M Thursday and a provisional +$31.7M Friday. Friday’s IBIT entry is missing, so the +$82.9M weekly subtotal is not final.

ETH: Watch 2,737–2,768 resistance, then approximately $2,800. Downside references are $2,635 and 2,610–2,583. ETF outflows complicate the recovery: Thursday recorded −$55.4M, while Friday shows −$17.3M, with ETHA and ETHB missing. The weekly −$118M subtotal remains provisional.

XRP: Resistance sits at 1.53–1.56; a daily close above $1.56 would improve the setup toward $1.61. Support is around 1.466–1.45. No fresh, verified institutional-flow total was available for this snapshot.

SOL: Price is holding near 121–122. Treat $120 as a round-number monitoring pivot, rather than established chart support; a precise resistance zone was not independently verified. ETF demand was nearly flat last week: +$0.8M, including +$1.3M Friday, based on Farside’s published rows.

ADA: The sharp advance puts $0.2750 in focus. Holding above $0.2679 would support continuation; slipping below $0.2585 would weaken the attempt, with $0.2425 a deeper invalidation reference. The rally’s specific catalyst was not verified, so attributing it to institutional buying or a short squeeze would be premature.

This week: September FOMC minutes arrive Wednesday, October 7. Watch their implications for Treasury yields and the dollar, alongside whether ETF demand improves when U.S. trading resumes. 

Citi’s October 1 forecast upgrades—to $113,000 for BTC and $3,028 for ETH over 12 months—signal a more optimistic institutional outlook, but are forecasts, not realized inflows.
