Names synonymous with the sport of football, David Beckham and Ronaldinho, have delved deeper into the crypto space with the launch of tokens and applying for token-related trademarks.

There is a growing demand for NFT and crypto-related products, especially in the sports industry, with the English Premier League looking to sign a 20-club deal to launch branded digital assets. We’ve already seen the emergence of companies like Tezos and Socios, grabbing shirt sponsorships from major clubs like Manchester United and Inter Milan.

These two football icons aim to build a relationship between themselves and their loyal fans. But, what exactly will these football superstars offer?

What Is Ronaldinho Doing?

The fun-loving trickster Ronaldinho has partnered up with decentralized exchange P00LS, with the intention of launching his own token aptly named RON. The goal of the token is to establish a better connection between himself and his cohort of fans. The football star was quoted as saying “more than just fans, they are my community”, which embodies the message some feel the crypto-space has and this potential is being realised here.

The RON token will allow holders to join Ronaldinho’s universe, allowing them to attend events, exchange NFTs, and create exclusive content. RON will be released on April 28th, as an ERC-20 token.

The founder and CEO of P00LS, Hugo Renaudin, said that “As one of the world’s most beloved and recognized sports stars, the launch of Ronaldinho’s token marks a massive step for his community, for P00LS, and for the creator economy at large.”

This isn’t the first time Ronaldinho has dipped his toes into the crypto space. Earlier this year he made an agreement with Graph Blockchain to organize events and NFT experiences for his fans, as well as become a global ambassador of the network.

Beckham Moves Into Crypto

The owner of Inter Miami David Beckham has been more discrete about his moves in the cryptocurrency universe. It was American lawyer Mike Kondoudis who revealed that the British football genius has filed three trademark applications for NFTs, virtual clothing, and entertainment events in the Metaverse.

While we know the types of trademarks that were made, it isn’t yet clear what their application of them will be. With Beckham already deeply involved in the crypto space, it’s likely more will be revealed on this in the near future.

Much like the Brazilian, this wasn’t Beckham’s first crypto rodeo, as he inked a deal to become the global brand ambassador for the cryptocurrency firm DigitalBits. Beckham had this to say about the deal “I am always keen to find new ways to connect with my fans across the world. The moment I spoke with AI and the DigitalBits team, I knew that this was a major opportunity to create new experiences for my fans online. I have always taken pride in working with the best teams and I am so excited to work on my NFT collections and more innovations in the future.”
