Illuvium: A Guide On How To Play the NFT Game

Illuvium is a trading card game that integrates blockchain technology and cryptocurrency, designed for players to trade cards and tokens with each other. Players can acquire those cards through gameplay or from the in-game store.

Below is a guide on how to play Illuvium — an NFT game with complex mechanics but a strong, vibrant community.

Illuvium is a multiplayer game that utilises blockchain and cryptocurrency. In this game, players explore a post-apocalyptic world and acquire new weapons, skills, and upgrades. They also learn how to use them in PVP battles. According to experts from Bitcoineer offiziell, this game is a significant introduction to the crypto-verse and the crypto economy due to the systems, technology, and functions that further distinguish the game from other play-to-earn NFTs.

In Illuvium, the player takes on the role of an Illuvian citizen in a post-apocalyptic world. The player’s objective is to earn enough Illuvi — the in-game resource — to purchase land for their family to live on or help fund rebel operations against the corrupt kingdom of Aurelia.

Aurelia is an oppressive monarchy ruled by an iron fist from its capital, Larusa, which sits at the centre of all three sectors: Melora (forest), Aridia (desert), and Icterica (coastal). It has been in power for centuries thanks to its advanced weapons that have conquered all those who dared challenge it. The game is in a virtual environment where players fight against each other with their Illuvium armies. Players must first be able to create exciting narratives for their armies; this is another way the game challenges us to think of creative ways of solving problems.

How to play the game

The first step in playing Illuvium is creating and customising a character for the game. From here, you select a sidekick in the form of a polymorphic subordinate drone with who you explore various regions within the Illuvium world and the mysteries that shattered the world.

You will come across some Illuvials along the way that you can fight. If you defeat them, use a Shard to seize them, making them wholly yours. The strength of the Shards might fluctuate, so use with caution. Stronger Illuvials are more likely to defeat weaker Shards. Those just starting will be able to mine free shards, but they will only be able to capture a small number of weaker Illuvials. However, you can begin playing the game for free and learn the basics.

What are Illuvials, and how can you apply them?

Illuvials are a variation of over 100 in-game items in the Illuvial world, consisting of different classes and affinities. All of these Illuvials possess unique abilities which can be used to form symbiotic relationships with one another based on the similarities in affinities or classes known as synergies.

Illuvials are stronger when they cooperate in the Battle Arena using a Hybrid Synergy System, so gathering synergising pairs increases your chances of winning. Even if your opponent has Illuvials with greater raw strength than you, you can outperform them by using several synergies that give your side various advantages. Fusion enables you to combine several Illuvials of the same type into a more potent creature with unique characteristics, occasionally belonging to a different Class or Type. Keep in mind that some lines of Illuvials are extremely rare and difficult to locate, making it even more challenging to identify their fused version.

Stronger Illuvials can have affinities to two elements simultaneously, allowing for various combinations. Illuvials can stack the same affinity, making them stronger within that particular affinity. For instance, two fire affinities can be piled to produce an inferno Illuvium, and air and water can be joined to create a frost Illuvium. When fighting, the combinations of classes and affinities are crucial. A player is likely to have a difficult time if they select an overgrowth illuvial (nature + nature) instead of an inferno illuvial (fire + fire).

  • Empath

Illuvial Affinities

Is the game free or paid?

The game has both a free and paid version. The free version consists of Tier 0 regions of the world, which allows those who sign up for the game a free-to-play experience for players. They can learn the game and its mechanics by exploring these places. Although Illuvium calls this a "non-abridged" edition, users must choose the premium (paid) version to acquire NFTs from higher-tiered locations.

In-game purchases

ETH is used for all in-game purchases, and the fees are sent directly to the Illuvium Vault.

Key features:

  • The game is built on a decentralised network and functions as an NFT collection and auto-battler game on Ethereum’s blockchain.
  • Tokens collected have real-world value. Players can win and collect Ethereum, the second-largest crypto token in the world.
  • Illuvium is the first blockchain-based AAA video game of its kind.
  • Instant trade confirmation
  • No gas fees.
  • Sustainability and scalability are ensured.

Where to buy Illuvium:

  • Binance
  • SushiSwap
  • KuCoin
  • Coinspot
  • Okex
  • 1inch

Illuvium plays like Hearthstone and CryptoKitties combined. It’s fun and lucrative and will teach you something about these new technologies while playing. Furthermore, the game has a crypto economy and strategy. All the creatures, pets, buildings and other items in the game are built on Ethereum's ERC721 token standard, which gives them real-world value outside of the game and allows for in-game trading of assets which are not controlled by the Illuvium team.

Without the interference of central governance and intermediaries, a fully decentralised gaming economy will offer a phenomenal, practical, and effective integration of cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, Decentralised Autonomous Organizations (an emerging type of legal structure that has no central governing body whose members share a common goal to act in the best interest of the entity), and gamers.
