THORChain Resumes BNB, Base and Solana Trading in Major Upgrade

On Monday, the THORChain team announced via X that THORChain v3.20 goes live on Tuesday, 8/25, at ~14:00 UTC.

THORChain v3.20 is a feature-heavy upgrade, with Zcash and Monero moving closer to activation, BNB, Base, and Solana trading resuming, and two important additions to the protocol's economic architecture: Protocol-Owned Liquidity mimirs and the new Stable Reserve.

The release also expands Memoless Swaps to ERC-20s, adds MOR to THORChain's EVM token lists, and ships another large batch of swap, solvency, and node security improvements. Last but not least, churn will resume on the network.

The main changes include:

  • Commit #c3e5c972: improves XMR keygen consensus and prevents failed Monero vault keygens from incorrectly triggering mass validator jailing.

  • Commit #5c0b2fed: allows a node that failed locally during FROST keygen to recover when the rest of the network successfully completed it.

  • Commit #60645ac1: improves how XMR monovault keygen is coordinated across the network.

  • Commit #e3c10ac3: improves FROST signing recovery when some participating nodes are missing the required key.

  • Commit #484b24ce: improves recovery of missing FROST and EdDSA keyshares.

  • Commit #a46c5976: ensures recovered FROST keyshares are correctly restored with the Monero sidecar.

  • Commit #7adf504d: prevents false XMR insolvency reports while the Monero sidecar is still reconciling balances.

  • Commit #4fd394d2: improves recovery when Monero spent-output information fails to import correctly.

  • Commit #625bcff1: strengthens FROST gas handling and retry behaviour.

  • Commit #4cac9e11: introduces a broader security-hardening package across XMR and FROST.

  • Commit #e382d2e3: exposes additional XMR outbound information to improve transaction tracking and transparency.

THORChain is a decentralized cross-chain exchange where traders can swap cross-chain assets via liquidity pools across Binance Chain, Ethereum, and Bitcoin.

THORChain is the first decentralized exchange (DEX) to swap Bitcoin and other UTXO chains with Ethereum and other EVM chains. All without using wrapped tokens.

THORChain currently supports swapping between 10 different blockchains. Assets available to swap on THORChain include the following:

Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Tether (USDT), BNB (BNB), XRPL (XRP), USDC (USDC), Tron (TRX), Dogecoin (DOGE), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), Chainlink (LINK), Litecoin (LTC), Dai (DAI), Avalanche (AVAX), Aave (AAVE), Cosmos (ATOM), Base (BASE)

RUNE is up 5.3% today and is currently trading at $04936.
