The Tezos team announced via Twitter on Friday that it has activated its ninth upgrade called Ithica 2. Tezos added that Ithaca 2 replaces the consensus algorithm of Tezos with Tenderbake, lowering block times and improving finality. The team added that Ithaca 2 also introduces pre-checking, a lightweight validation scheme for the mempool which will increase overall throughput and reduce the requirement to become a network validator ("baker") by 25% from 8,000 XTZ to 6,000 XTZ, strengthening the decentralized nature of
