Mythical Games has secured the services of sports apparel giant Adidas ahead of the much-anticipated FIFA Rivals global release.

Mythical Games Nabs Adidas Ahead of FIFA Rivals Global Release

Days before FIFA Rivals secures its global release on Android and iOS, developer Mythical Games announced that it has secured the services of a veritable all-time all-star.

In a press release shared with Cryptowisser, Mythical Games pointed out that Adidas has a long and storied history with football, having manufactured the kit for some of the world’s greatest teams. Now it’s poised to do the same for the greatest teams taking the field in FIFA Rivals after agreeing to a licensing deal with Mythical Games.

By partnering with Adidas and securing a FIFA license, FIFA Rivals looks odds-on to outperform its predecessor, NFL Rivals, which has surpassed 6M downloads to date. Should FIFA Rivals make that achievement resemble rookie numbers, by notching up several millions on top, it’ll play a critical role in further mainstreaming web3 gaming – and it won’t do Mythical’s profile any harm either.

FIFA Rivals Could Become the Most Successful Web3 Game

According to Mythical Games, there are no certainties within the gaming and real-world sports ecosystem. This implies that it can’t be said with absolute certainty that FIFA Rivals has an outsized chance of becoming the most successful web3 game of all time. However, it is highly probable. And the odds of this occurring have tipped further in its favor now that Adidas is onboard.

Adidas joining the project aligns with the products it currently brings to football arenas around the world: team kits, boots, and match balls. They might be digital in the case of FIFA Rivals, but in every other respect, they’ll closely mirror the style and branding that is adidas’ stock in trade. It’ll even be reprising some of its classic kits for gamers to clad their team in while playing the mobile football game.

Adidas will launch digital kit drops featuring unique adidas jersey designs as well as limited edition football boots that are tied to real-world player performance. The team will also launch an Adidas-branded match ball that players can use within the game and a training facility where players can level up their star footballers and complete challenges.

Web3’s Game of the Summer

FIFA Rivals looks set to become web3’s biggest game this summer and possibly of the entire year. It’s already accrued a huge waitlist of gamers eager to get to grips with it when the game drops on June 12. The promise of arcade-style gameplay, as popularized in NFL Rivals, coupled with dream team building and a built-in marketplace where players can be traded as NFTs, ticks all the right boxes.

Mythical Games has abstracted the web3 components so that players can get straight to the gameplay: no web wallet creation or complex onboarding to grapple with. According to the team, FIFA Rivals feels just like a conventional mobile game – but for players who elect to dive deeper, there’s blockchain under the hood. The blockchain feature includes the Mythical Marketplace, where players and accessories can be traded as NFTs.

FIFA Rivals players can leverage the Mythical Marketplace to enable them to own assets and build perfect teams.
