LAPTOP’s team blames sniper bots and thin liquidity for its 99% crash, announcing Aerodrome pool incentives and a 10-million-token burn.

Hunter Biden Says LAPTOP Project Is “Not Going Anywhere” After 99% Plunge

TL;DR

  • LAPTOP’s team blamed sniper bots and inadequate liquidity for the memecoin’s first-day surge above $300 and subsequent 99% crash.

  • Around 80% of traders reportedly lost money. The project plans to allocate four million tokens to Aerodrome liquidity pools and burn 10 million tokens following two successful prediction outcomes.

The team behind Hunter Biden’s newly launched LAPTOP memecoin has blamed sniper bots and insufficient initial liquidity for the token’s extreme first-day price movements.

LAPTOP experienced a turbulent first hour of trading Wednesday. The token briefly reached a market capitalization of approximately $110 billion before collapsing by more than 99%, according to DexScreener data.

Its price climbed above $300 following the airdrop but quickly surrendered most of those gains. By 12:10 a.m. ET Thursday, LAPTOP was trading near $0.84.

Bubblemaps Says 80% of Traders Lost Money

Blockchain analytics platform Bubblemaps described the launch as a “bloodbath,” estimating that roughly 80% of LAPTOP traders suffered losses.

Its analysis indicated that two traders lost between $100,000 and $1 million. Around 100 wallets recorded losses ranging from $10,000 to $100,000, while approximately 700 traders lost between $1,000 and $10,000.

In a Medium post, the LAPTOP team said the initial liquidity pool launched the token at $0.05 and immediately attracted substantial demand.

According to the project, this made LAPTOP a target for automated sniper bots. The market maker’s liquidity was reportedly insufficient to handle the surge in trading, resulting in a rapid price spike and subsequent collapse.

Project Allocates Four Million Tokens to Liquidity

The team said it is working to align available liquidity more closely with trading demand.

Beginning at midnight UTC on September 10, the project will deploy four million LAPTOP tokens—equivalent to 0.4% of the total supply—to incentivize liquidity across Aerodrome pools.

The allocation is intended to deepen the token’s markets and reduce the risk of similar volatility.

LAPTOP also confirmed that two prediction-based events had resolved “Yes,” triggering the planned destruction of 10 million tokens. The burn will reduce the circulating supply by approximately 1% during the token’s first week.

Thirty percent of LAPTOP’s supply is tied to 30 predictions involving public events. Tokens linked to correct “Yes” outcomes are burned, while those associated with other outcomes are donated to charity.

One of the completed events involved digital artist Beeple mentioning LAPTOP. The project did not identify the second resolved prediction.

Hunter Biden Says Project Will Continue

Hunter Biden separately said X had suspended the foundation’s official account and that the team was working to have it restored. He insisted that he was “not going anywhere.”

The project also denied conducting a token presale or paying influencers to promote the launch. It said no investors were able to purchase LAPTOP before the public release.

According to the team, 80 million tokens were made available to Hunter Biden’s Substack subscribers who registered before September 6.
