HNT Rallies as Telefónica Partners with Nova Labs to launch Helium Mobile Hotspots in Mexico

HNT Surges by 15% Following Telefonica Deal

HNT, the native coin of the Helium ecosystem, is up by more than 15% over the last 24 hours. The rally makes it the second-best performer amongst the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market cap, only behind MANTA. 

The rally comes after Telefonica, one of the largest telecommunication services providers in the world, partnered with Nova Labs to roll out Helium mobile hotspots in Mexico City and Oaxaca.

According to Helium’s blog post, this latest development means that Telefonica customers can now tap into Helium's mobile hotspots in a bid to improve mobile coverage using data sharing.

Telefonica is a publicly traded company, with a market cap above $20 billion and more than 380 million customers across Europe and Latin America. 

José Juan Haro, chief wholesale and public affairs officer at Telefónica, commented that,

"This program in Mexico is critical to evaluate performance and customer satisfaction of this solution and its associated costs." 

The announcement has seen HNT rally by more than 15% in the last 24 hours. At press time, HNT’s price stands at $6.82 per coin. HNT has outperformed the broader cryptocurrency market, with BTC and other major cryptocurrencies still underperforming.

BTC is up by less than 1% in the last 24 hours and is now trading at $40,015 per coin. The total cryptocurrency market cap has barely increased and currently stands at $1.56 trillion.
